Step 1: Click Once — That's the Whole Setup

Open ChatPig on your phone or laptop and tap the big start button. Your browser will ask for camera and microphone permission the first time — say yes when you're ready, and you're in. There's no app to install and no account form standing between you and your first conversation.

Staying low-key is the default, not the exception: you can use ChatPig as an anonymous video chat for as long as you like, and only create an account if you want to save preferences or pick up longer sessions where they left off.

Step 2: Get Matched With Someone New

The moment you confirm, ChatPig looks for another person who is online and free at that exact moment, and puts the two of you in a private room. This is the "random" in random video chat — you don't scroll, swipe or pick. The world simply shows up, usually within seconds.

How Does Random Video Chat Work, Exactly?

Behind the start button there's a live queue of everyone currently looking for a chat. When you join it, the system pairs you with another available person and opens a direct connection between your two devices. Nobody else can enter that room: every match is a private 1v1 video chat, closer to a phone call than to any kind of group hangout or broadcast.

Matching is usually fast because the pool is global — when it's quiet in your time zone, it's busy in someone else's. If you do catch a slow moment, it's almost always about how many people are online right then, not about anything being broken on your end.

Video, Voice, or Text — Pick Your Comfort Level

Camera-on is the classic way to meet strangers online, but it's not the price of entry. Every match can run in three modes:

• Video — the full face-to-face experience, and the reason most people are here.
• Voice — all the conversation, none of the "is my lighting okay" stress.
• Text — quiet, low-pressure, and a surprisingly good way to warm up before going on camera.

You can start in text and switch up whenever the chat earns it. Nobody on the other side can force your camera on — that choice stays with you.

How the Free Matches Add Up

Your first match is free — no sign-up, no card, nothing. After that, every user gets 10 free matches every day, which is enough to meet a handful of new people daily without paying anything. The free allowance resets each day.

When a Match Isn't a Match

Not every pairing clicks, and that's by design — the next one might. Tap Next and you're already meeting someone new. Using Next isn't rude; it's the mechanic the whole format is built around.
